Sewing Mamas Site Issues, Happy New Year!
Sewing Mamas site is down for today. This is because of a domain name registration issue, and we’re working on it as fast as we can.
You can find all the details here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sewingmamas/?yguid=120249778
There is an issue with the domain, not anything we’ve done to the site. Please spread the word.
You can get in if I go to 216.12.223.218. Please tell anyone you can to use this address instead of sewingmamas.com

Calling all Sewing Mama Sponsors!
Please help, it will just take you a moment.
Please go into your control panel, scroll down to ‘group memberships‘. You can mark yourself how you want to be seen.
Sponsors, I’d appreciate you marking the sponsorship radio button. Then I won’t have to have to do it by hand this weekend.
THANK YOU mamas!!!

Sponsorship and titles issues
I know some are concerned about seeing their custom title change. I’ve been trying to figure out how to identify the sponsors here, and have been trying to figure out how to bold the sponsor’s names.
Long story short, I have to do this one by one, and with 133 sponsors it will take a bit of time. Look at the end of this post for how you can edit your own usergroup to sponsor.
If you are a mod, admin or admin-lite and not a sponsor, the result is that you’ll lose mod privileges. Nothing personal, but it’s how the system is set up. Allison will be re-modding soon anyway.
Another result is the loss of custom titles for sponsors. You didn’t lose the ability to change, the upgrade deleted them. If you want your custom title back, go into your Control Panel and change it back please.
Please help, it will just take you a moment.

Clear as mud? I was up late momming sick kids, had a ‘warm discussion’ with dh about his long hours, and other various reasons I’m wiped out today LOL I’ll do as many as I can and hopefully get it sorted out asap.

Upgrading the forum software
Hello again!
We’re changing from vBulletin 3.6.2 to 3.6.8 over the next day or so. All should go well, but wanted to keep you up to date on what we’re up to. Hopefully this will help some registration problems we’ve been having.
Thank you everyone!

Sewing Mamas is on it’s own dedicated server
We moved to a dedicated server last night. Looks like we’re still here, so that’s good LOL
You may need to log in again, as the server information has changed. I know I’ve had to log in a few times where I didn’t have to before. I think the tables need to be rebuilt, that store all the information. I’m not much good at that stuff so I’m just playing it by ear.
The blog was down this morning when I got up, and has been intermittent . I guess wordpress has had some glitch, I’m not sure what’s up. It’s not on the sewingmama server, it has my materialmama blog and that’s down too so it’s not a SM thing.
We’ll be upgrading the forum software later this weekend or week, so stay tuned.
I hope the site is loading faster for you now, even during peak times we should be fine.
For all log in issues, please look here

We’re moving tonight!
We’re moving to the new DEDICATED server tonight, September 14th. Here is the note from Nathan, our server papa:
I can get you live on the site tonight I believe. And you should experience only a few minutes of down time (if even that).
Once we’re moved we’re going to institute a few more changes — an upgrade of our forum software, new moderators and we’re considering making the Boutique a benefit of sponsorship.

New Membership options at Sewing Mamas
Allison and I thought it was a great idea to create a sponsorship group for people who wanted to do so for shorter periods of time. We got this input from several threads and pm’s. The problem is that fees eat up so much of the payment, we can’t take it down to just a few dollars once a month. So here’s what we came up with.
new: 9.00 for 3 months
If you’d like to become a sponsor, check out the link here in your CP panel.
Benefits of sponsorship:
SewingMamas.com is a community run site that relies mostly on member donations and advertising to operate. A sponsor is a site member that has donated membership fees to help run our site. As a paid sponsor, you will receive these benefits:
The good feeling of supporting other sewing mamas
Free banner ads in your sig line on our forums
Free store in our Sewing Mama Hyena Cart. This must be first approved pending your past feedback, please refer to the Workshop for more information
Voting and posting privileges in the “Board Room”
Photo storage space in our Galleries
Custom logos and avatar settings
Larger PM (Private Message) storage spaceSponsor fees and donations directly fund the running of SewingMamas.com. No members are making a profit from the site. Quarterly financial reports will be posted for all members to view.
Sponsorship is $15/6 months or $24/year. If you are interested in being a Sponsor, we accept Paypal.
Please note that sponsorship is a donation. It is non refundable if you decide to leave before your sponsorship period is up.
And just what does sponsorship pay for?
• dedicated web server, hosting and site maintenance ~ We are moving to a dedicated server, and this is more expensive than a shared server
• Contest prizes
• Forum Upgrades
• Paypal Fees
• Charitable Donations
Thanks for your patience! Having children in Kindergarten, Preschool, Highschool are all kicking my behind and I have to schedule out my Sewing Mama Tasks time — I usually work on site issues on Wednesdays, so I’m not ignoring you.
Go sew something!

Changes at Sewing Mamas
We’ll be moving to a Sewing Mamas dedicated server, using Nathan’s service. We’re doing a 3 month trial to make sure it stays online as much as we need it, and can keep on top of it. Once we move servers it will take a few days for the DNS to resolve. Which means for awhile some mamas won’t be able to get online — like a few days.
I have this blog set up to keep everyone updated as much as I can about what’s going on.
Right before this move, we’ll also be upgrading our vBulletin forum system, which we have done before and shouldn’t be a problem. We may lose some of the ’styles’ but all the content and your info should stay the same.
This will happen next week, and I’ll post here and at Sewing Mamas when it happens so you’ll know what’s going on
